Entering writing competitions is a great way to hone your craft, to give yourself deadlines to work towards, to provide inspiration, to get feedback on your work, to get your words in print and to get your work noticed.

The writing competitions on this site are separated into four types below: 1. Novel/Novella; 2. Short Story; 3. Poetry; and 4. Non-fiction. Each section is listed in order of competition closing date so that you know what your upcoming deadlines are.

Please take care to read the guidelines and rules of entry for each competition to ensure that your work and eligibility is suitable for the competition, and that you are aware of the requirements and deadlines of each competition.

New competitions will continue to be added to these lists, so check back regularly. If you think there is a competition missing from these lists, or if you are running a competition that you would like to be added to these lists, then please contact us with the details.
